Sucker Punch to get West End transfer?
01/08/2010
Sucker Punch finished it's run at the Royal Court last night but according to cast member Jason Maza it may not be the last we see of the Roy Williams play.
Speaking on Radio 1 extra, Maza says there is talk of a West End transfer and/or a tour.
The auditorium at the Royal Court's Jerwood Theatre was ripped up with the boxing-ring themed stage placed in the middle. If it does transfer to the West End it will be interesting to see if it is given the same treatment.
Sucker Punch would work in a more traditional staging but part of its charm, and why it worked so well at the Royal Court, is that it is set up like a real boxing match with the audience either side of the ring.
Maza, who was interviewed alongside Daniel Kaluuya also mentioned that Williams has been approached by film makers about turning the play into something for the big screen.
